Mamanek
short drama
Running Time: 23
Petr is fourteen, a sensitive boy still on the child side of adolescence. He is very close with his young mother, Vera, who raised him alone since she herself was only a child.Petr's classmates tease him relentlessly for this, and for his sexual inexperience, calling him 'mama's boy.' Escaping their taunts one day he has a chance encounter with a beautiful waitress outside the local bar. To Petr it presents a fateful opportunity: he will win her affection, and prove himself a man.Not so easy. Jana may be lovely and sympathetic enough, but she is at least ten years Petr's senior. A woman, who sees Petr as a child. Each rebuff, however, only makes Petr more determined. Armed with infatuation, bad advice from his peers, and beer from the bar, he persists. And as his solitary pursuit becomes increasingly desperate, Vera is left alienated, confused, and hurt. How far will Petr take this obsession, and at what price to his only family? Mamanek is a short film about infatuation, fitting-in, and the first real breakup in every young man's life.
