The Breckenridge Festival of Film is made possible by the hard work of our many volunteers. We are always on the lookout for people who would like to get involved and help us make the festival more fun year after year. Most of our volunteers only help during the festival or the week before but we put on several events during the year such as Hollywood & Wine and the Tennis Tournament and we can always use the help.
Here is a list of some of the main jobs before and during the festival but if you have other skills and want to help us out, please let us know. And thank you to all our past and future volunteers who help make the Breckenridge Festival of Film a success and make Summit County such a fun place to live and visit.
Volunteers are compensated with passes to films and a volunteer party a week or two before the festival.
Theaters: Ticket takers are needed for most the movie venues during the weekend of the festival. Shifts can be as short as two hours but it would be nice if you can work for an evening. We can also use theater managers for each of the venues. This person oversees the operation and is the contact point for the theater. We generally like to have people who can volunteer for at least the entire day or hopefully for the entire festivle.
Concessions: Most of our theater venues also sell snacks and beverages. We need people to sell these items during the show.
Projectionists: We need volunteers to make sure that the movies start on time. Most of the movies are on VHS or DVD so this job is essentially putting in the disk/tape and hitting play. A little knowledge of A/V equipment would be useful. If you can hook up a VCR you're in. If you can program one, you're golden.
Events: The after show parties are some of the most fun of the entire festival. We need people to help set up and decorate, watch the door and help clean up. If you are not here for the festival, we run several events over the year and can always use the help.
Committee Heads and Assistants: These people are the core group that do the planning and make sure things happen during the months before the festival. If you have skills in areas like marketing, writing press releases, industry contacts, event organization, sponsorships, audio/visual, graphic and/or web design or any other are where you feel you can make a contribution, please let us know.
Office: You can imagine how hectic things get at the office during the festival. We can always use help in the office to answer phones, deliver programs and hot sheets, make sure films get to the correct places and just about any thing else you can think of. We can always use some help here in the week or two before the festival.
Film Reviewers: Film reviewing is generally done during the months of April, May and June. These are the people who watch all the film entries and give their opinion to help select which films will make it into the festival. If you are interested, let us know if you would like to review films for next year's festival.
GLBT: The Breckenridge Film Festival is pleased to offer the GLBT Films program for a fourth year in a row. Come be part of the festival and help keep GLBT films a successful and fun part of the festival.
